A noteworthy piece from David Meredith's clairion call to our church yesterday; The Free Church however was not just born in controversy. It was also born in spiritual renewal. .. revival being born..in 1846 at Johnshaven, a favored location for Free Church camps today, Andrew Bonar recalls “I spent three hours speaking with anxious souls in private … there are about thirty very deeply convicted of sin and many more under the Spirit’s strivings. Dr Brewster’s female teacher has been remarkably useful.’ Why not now? Donald. |

At the regular Elders meeting this month, we received the great news that Bryan and Louise Kee are to move to live in Broughty Ferry, with Bryan taking up the role of Pastoral Assistant in St Peters in the late summer. This is an exciting development for the work here in Angus & The Mearns, as Bryan will have a full day of his week devoted to the development of our churches' work here. Thank you to all who have had a prayerful concern for the work here to this point. Donald & Cathy Gillies. |

We have just started a new Bible Study, looking at the Bible 'through the eyes of John Calvin'. In this 500th year since Calvin's birth, it's appropriate to look at what this churchman has to tell us of the Bible. For instance, do you know that the design of a typical Church of Scotland bears his influence? The three main structures at the front of the church; pulpit, communion table and baptism font, all tell of what he said were to be kept as the central activities in our worship of Christ. Thursdays at 7pm. Everyone welcome. Tel 01674 850607 for more details. |

A new local Radio Station, Mearns FM, has been granted us a license to broadcast in the Mearns and is currently inviting local organisations to start recording content, in preparation for going live. Convener Ian Hunter reports; "we are particularly interested in Spoken Word recordings just now. To broadcast copyright music not only means PPL and PRS licensing, but also royalties. The cost is not huge, but depends on the number of listeners so can be hard to gauge. For say an hour long programme, would you be able to raise £30 from a local business wanting to sponsor your broadcast? Any of the office bearers will be happy to discuss ideas, technical issues or funding with you. Please call". If you are interested in being involved with us in assisting this Radio Station, we may be able to broadcast recordings of sermons and other Christian content. This could be done from a distance, so it doesn't matter where you live! Please contact Donald through the enquiries link above. |

Yesterday, we dropped approximately 500 leaflets through doors in the area. Thanks to all who came down from Bon Accord and helped. We held the second Montrose service on the Sunday - Bryan Kee preached on "The Woman and The Water" (John ch 4). Keep an eye on the website, it will be uploaded soon. Donald. |

Well, we're off! The first "Worship & Learn" service took place at 3pm yesterday in Lochside School. David Robertson preached on "Jesus said I Am The Way", to nineteen local/visiting folks. Out of the window behind David, across the car park, stood "The Glens" housing area, where our lot has fallen to serve this part of the town. The school facilities are excellent and the Headteacher Mr Wood was thanked for being so accomodating to us. We will be able to hire the school through the summer months, as it is reguarly used then by other groups. Our next aim is to send letters to the local churches that Maretta Campbell surveyed in 2005, to inform them of our presence in the town and to assure them of our willingness to communicate and co-operate with other church groups where possible. After that, we would like to have a leaflet drop around the local area on Saturday 17th May, the day before the next service in the school. If you would like to help us with this, we would be grateful. Why not make a day of it and we'll arrange some sightseeing & lunch? Please phone us on 01674 850607 or on e mail at , we'd love to hear from you. Donald & Cathy |
